About the Teacher Paul Ayers graduated from California State University Fullerton as a Bachelor of Science in Physics (with a Minor in Philosophy) in 2015. In the same year he started the credential program from the same university. Since the beginning of the fall of 2015, Paul has been student teaching at Sonora high school in La Habra,CA as a physics teacher for Mr. Risse's second and fifth period physics courses. In the spring semester, Paul also began teaching chemistry for Mr. Risse's second period class. Along with having experience as a students teacher at Sonora high school, Paul has also held multiple tutoring jobs while studying at CSUF. Paul also spent the summer of 2015 as a mathematics tutor for the independent study charter school program Opportunities for Learning. Paul's passion for science and math drives him to motivate his students to become interested and motivated to learn. Paul Ayers enjoys putting all of his efforts into making sure that the students are progressing in their learning throughout each unit. About the Science Classes
Paul Ayers follow the NGSS Five E Lesson Planning Model for planning his lessons. These Five E's stand for ENGAGE, EXPLORE, EXPLAIN, ELABORATE and EVALUATE. Both this physics and chemistry class are designed to get students involved with the content gradually in multiple faceted mediums. On multiple occasions throughout a single unit, the class may include videos (elaborate), articles (elaborate), demonstrations (engage), lab experiments (explore) or simply taking notes (explain). The class is going to use simple of knowledge from algebra in some of its content, but the scope of mathematics shouldn't go anywhere beyond algebra or some simple geometry. Chemistry and Physics are very similar in that they are both physical sciences. They are also some of the most fundamental of sciences. Physics is based on the study of matter, forces and interactions and chemistry is based on the study of chemical reactions and bonds.
WHAT CAN BE FOUND ON THIS SITE? This site is my way of presenting multiple different forms of information to both my students and the parents of my students. This site will be used to display notifications, upcoming dates for all my science classes (such as tests, and projects), assignments, links to useful videos or information and also ways to contact myself for any questions. I want this site to also be used as a way to showcase any interesting or entertaining videos to my students throughout the week, that may be helpful to their studies or may just be interesting. I believe that both physics chemistry and all the sciences can be incredibly fun and interesting. In this way then, I would like to show the students information pertaining to science that is just fascinating.
